Jim's radio career began at a small AM station in Southeastern Idaho under the morning shadows of the Grand Tetons. While attending college Jim began doing 'wake ups' for the small farming community of St. Anthony, Idaho. "What a blast! I was on the air, something I had always wanted to do and I was the morning guy! In retrospect I think I was doing mornings because my boss, the owner, didn't want to get up that early."

It wasn't long before Jim was programming and on a fast track for a top five major market position. "I'd been in radio less than 10 years and had worked my way up to a top five market as Program Director. The air-staff was able to take time off anytime they wanted, since I was an off air PD, I was always looking for the chance to get back on the air." Jim's resume was fairly typical of a PD on the fast track. He was jumping up in market size quickly and was on air in a variety of different formats. In fact, he could easily boast experience in every major format and type of delivery.

"I remember early in my career rummaging through the cassette box, looking for a tape I could use to air check my show. I ran across Bill Moffatt's demo tape. Bill was our station imaging voice, his voice is bigger than life. It was awesome to hear him do your jockshouts… his voice is MASSIVE! That was the day I decided I wanted to be an imaging voice talent. I think I still have that demo tape somewhere. I listened to his tape and about a dozen others from the best V.O. guys in the industry, over and over. I was trying to find my own sound and the best delivery for my pipes." more >
